Marianne Carruth (Tryon Fine Arts Center), Theodore Kelly (Unity in the Community), Cathy Fischer (Tryon Arts & Craft School) and David Staley (Unity in the Community) were a few members of the nonprofit sector from Polk County who attended the N.C. Center for Nonprofits Conference in Winston Salem, N.C., Sept. 30 – Oct. 2. Other representatives from Thermal Belt Outreach, Steps to Hope, Lanier Library, Mill Spring Agriculture Center and The Polk County Community Foundation were in attendance as well. The conference provided two full days jam-packed with interactive learning, relevant topics and nonprofit leaders eager to make connections and share ideas. Attending the conference was made possible by a grant and funding from the Polk County Community Foundation. (Submitted by David Staley)S
