Seth Raul Davis

Seth Raul Davis, 83, of Tryon, N.C. passed away, Oct. 4, 2015 at his residence.

Seth was the son of the late George and Theresa Davis. Born in Chicago, Ill. he started playing the drums at age four and was known as the “world’s youngest drummer.” Seth traveled extensively with USO Tours during the late 1930s and 1940s. After his tours he attended the University of Illinois. In 1950 he joined the Army and became Sgt. in the 347th Army Band and 45th Infantry Division band in Korea. In 1953 he married the love of his life Margaret Louise Brown. Seth and his family moved to Tryon, N.C. in 1969. In 1982, they moved to Charleston, S.C. living on their sailboat for two years before retiring to Tryon after Hurricane Hugo. He continued to share his gift of music with others by participating in over 30 Tryon Little Theater productions.

Seth is survived by his wife Margaret Louise Davis, two sons, Michael Davis (Dawn), John Davis (Jocelyn), four daughters Rebecca Davis, Cynthia Davis, Catherine Lynch, and Sarah Davis. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at Tryon Congregational Church with Rev. Bob Barrows officiating, with military rites by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
