With only three full days between games after drubbing Madison, 50-7, on Sept. 28, Polk County’s varsity football team takes its 3-3 overall record (the Wolverines are 1-0 in Western Highlands Conference action) to Mountain Heritage in Burnsville this evening.
Mountain Heritage also most recently played on Sept. 28. The Cougars can score lots of points, but lost to Hendersonville, 48-44.
Polk quarterback Jamal Wheeler set three single-game school records against Madison, for his six touchdowns, 38 total points (two coming on a post-touchdown conversion run), and averaging 23.6 yards per carry. Mountain Heritage is 4-2 overall, and 0-1 in WHC action.
All Polk County games through the end of the regular season are against WHC opponents.
Wolverine players and coaches are looking for lots of fan support. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30. Rain might be a factor.
