Owned by Ken Sterne, this 1965 Ferrari 330 GTO will be one of the stars of this year’s Tryon Rolling Art Show.

The 2015 Tryon Rolling Art show, a gallery of collector-quality foreign and domestic automobiles, motorcycles and trucks, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, on Palmer Street in downtown Tryon between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend this free show, with exhibitors and public encouraged to bring Halloween food contributions for the Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry.

The Tryon Rolling Art exhibit has grown during the past several years to include more than 125 vehicles. Fine examples from Ferrari to Ducati and Porsche, Rolls Royce to Harley Davidson and BMW, Ford and Chevrolet to Volkswagen — whose owners come from as far away as Virginia, Georgia and Florida — have attracted large crowds to a town renowned for its fine and performing arts, writers and music history.

One of the stars of this year’s show will be Ken Sterne’s 1965 Ferrari 330 GTO recreation. The GTO is widely acknowledged to be one of the best automotive designs in history.  Famous for its dominance of the international road racing scene during the early 1960s (world manufacturers’ sports car championships in 1962, 1963 and 1964), the few remaining original GTOs have sold in the eight figures to the most discerning collectors.

With over $1 million invested in the project, the car to be shown by Sterne is an exact replica of the 330 GTO, of which only three were built by Ferrari. The flawless bright red hand-shaped aluminum body covers a lightweight tube frame. It is powered by a 4.5 liter V12 rated at 405 horsepower. Completed in the early to mid-1990s, then maintained, modified, upgraded and given race-support by the builders during a 10-year HSR Group 5 racing history, it still qualifies for several contemporary vintage racing series.

Located near Thompson Garden Gallery and Outdoor Living on Palmer Street, the exhibit is free to the public and exhibitors alike. Vehicle registration is free. If you have a collector car, motorcycle or truck you would like to show, call 828-859-3185 or email rollingarttryon@gmail.com and provide the year, make and model of your vehicle along with your contact information. Everyone is welcome.
