With the help of Marion “Peanut” Price, Landrum’s Streets and Parks Supervisor, and Allison Tree Service, two quilt blocks were hung on Thursday, July 16, raising the total number in Landrum to 30. The Hogback Mountain quilt block (pictured) was hand-painted to replicate a photo submitted by Petty Funeral Home of their family farm. The block can be found at 130 N. Trade Street in Landrum. A second block dubbed “Flying Bats” was affixed to Mullins Cleaners at 201 E. Rutherford Street in Landrum.
Ellen Henderson, President of the Landrum Quilters, expects six additional blocks to be painted and hung by the end of the year. More information, such as the location and themes of the other 28 quilt tiles, can be found at www.foothillsquilttrail.com.
