The 16th season of Tryon’s most popular summer event – Summer Tracks – continues on Friday, July 17 with Buncombe Turnpike. The show begins at 7 p.m. at Rogers Park.
A longtime staple in the Asheville bluegrass scene, Buncombe Turnpike plays hand-crafted original songs and other heartfelt bluegrass tunes. Their crowd-pleasing demeanor, seasoned musicianship, and powerful vocals have earned them a loyal following among lovers of both traditional and contemporary bluegrass.
Band members are Tom Godleski, lead vocals and upright bass; Darrell Earwood, guitar and baritone vocal; David Hyatt, mandolin and lead and tenor vocals; Tim Adams, banjo; and Don Lewis, fiddle, lead and backing vocals. All five band members are natives of Western North Carolina. More info is available at www.buncombeturnpike.com.
This show is the fourth of six Summer Tracks concerts scheduled for this season. Each summer, this well produced series attracts more than 2,000 people to Tryon’s Rogers Park, drawing visitors from all over Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.
As with all Summer Tracks concerts, the show is free, though a voluntary donation at the gate is encouraged. Audience donations along with the generous sponsorships of local businesses and individuals make these shows possible. Manna Cabana’s delicious fresh food, O’Duggan’s ice cream, water and soft drinks will be for sale.
Summer Tracks is produced by the Town of Tryon in affiliation with Peter Eisenbrown of Blockparty Productions. For more information about Summer Tracks and the performers visit www.summertracks.com.
