Emily Bernice “Bunny” Shields

Emily Bernice “Bunny” Foster Shields, 101, of Tryon, N.C. passed away on June 23, 2015. She was the daughter of the late John Calvin Coke Foster, Sr. and Eudora Andrews Foster and widow of John L. Shields.

Bunny married John Lewis (Dick) Shields on October 1, 1939. Bunny owned and ran her own beauty shop on Main St. in Tryon, N.C. for many years. Later in life she worked in sales at Valhalla Hand Weavers Gift shop in Pacolet Valley and Hendersonville, N.C. She resided with her family in Tryon, N.C. for most of her adult life. She took the greatest pleasure in raising her daughter and two sons, and in spending time spoiling her grandchildren. She attended the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Tryon, N.C.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Ken Shields (Lynn) of LaFayette, Calif., Angela Greene of High Point, N.C., Brian Greene (Maggie) of Moore, S.C.; Jason Greene of Greenville, S.C. and Justin Greene of Spartanburg, S.C.; and her great grandchildren, Vivian and Keira Shields.

She was predeceased by her children, William “Bill” B. Shields, John Shields and Sharon Shields Webb; and her siblings Pauline “Polly” Pace, Winifred “Winnie” Belthius, Wofford Foster, Emily Foster Webster and Coke Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Petty Funeral Chapel conducted by Father Mickey Mugan. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens.
