Memorial Day events planned by Polk County veterans include: On Saturday, May 23, the VFW Post 9116 will place flags on grave sites at Polk Memorial Gardens starting at 9 a.m. Volunteers are welcome to join. On Monday, May 25, the ceremony at Polk Memorial Gardens starts at 11 a.m., and the ceremony at Veterans Park in Saluda starts at 3 p.m. Later that day, there will be a Singing for Soldiers at Veterans Park in Columbus, starting at 5 p.m.
