Polk arrests two on drug charges

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and woman along I-26 this week and seized opiate based narcotics worth an estimated $3,000 street value and $2,500 in cash.
Officers with the sheriff’s office’s Polk Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on March 23 and made the arrests after an investigation, according to sheriff reports.
Kimberly Leanne Kerr, 32, of Columbus was charged with trafficking of opiates, possession of a controlled substance in the jail and possession of a schedule II controlled substance, according to sheriff reports.
Kerr attempted to hide marijuana on her person and take it into the jail upon her arrest, states the sheriff report.
Larry Edwards Sims Jr., 35, of Spartanburg, S.C. was charged with trafficking of opiates, according to the sheriff’s office.
As of Thursday, Kerr remained in custody, the sheriff report said.
