Lois Hudson Ballentine, 85, of LaurelHurst, Columbus, N.C., died Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Born in Wilmington, Del., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Frances Poole Hudson and was the widow of Donald Arthur Ballentine, who died in l972. Lois made her home in Brevard, N.C., prior to moving to Polk County in 2005. She attended Cedar Crest College, Pa., and was a graduate of Stafford Hall School of Business. She worked 18 years at DuPont, Brevard, N.C. She attended the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church, Brevard, N.C.

Surviving are five sons: Noel H. Ballentine (Karen) of Hershey, Pa.; Charles D. Ballentine (Amy) of Columbus, N.C.; Douglas C. Ballentine of Asheville, N.C.; George “Larry” Ballentine of Siler City, N.C. and Stephen A. Ballentine (Debra) of Marysville, Calif. Also surviving is her brother, George Hudson (Bobbie) of Sparks, Md., and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Bischoff.

Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Congregational Church of Christ, Tryon, N.C. with Rev. Bob Barrows officiating.
