Thomas “Tommy” F. Edney, 51 of 87 Riverview Rd., Tryon, N.C. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 10, 2015 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House.
Born on Feb. 11, 1964 in Tryon, N.C., he was the son of the late Jimmy and Dolores Jones Edney.
Tommy was a simple man who enjoyed the simple joys in life. He loved his family, his friends and his animal companions. Tommy was a very giving person who was always ready to give a helping hand to others.
He is survived by a daughter, Brittany Edmonds (Dustin) of Campobello, S.C.; a son, Grayson Edney (Sara) of Landrum, S.C.; three granddaughters, Isabella, Adalyn and Bristol; three brothers, Jamie Edney (Carol) of Berea, Ky., Anthony Edney and Jeff Edney (Angela), both of Tryon, N.C; three sisters, Gail Pruitt of Landrum, S.C., Sharon Poteat (Tommy) of Green Creek and Tammy Rudd of Gaffney, S.C.; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend and caregiver, Jane Barton.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 21 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Columbus, N.C. The family will receive friends from 1–2 p.m. with the memorial service following with the Rev. Brent Frady. The family is at their respective homes.
