There were seven events at the state championship. Landrum’s Raiders team placed first in the rope bridge, knot tying relay, and vehicle pull events; second in the litter carry, logistics relay and Army Physical Fitness Test; and fifth in the 5K run event. This is the fourth state championship and third in a row for the Raiders. State championships include 2011/2013/2014/2015 (runners up for 2012).
Individual accolades for the Audie Murphy Ironman (highest PT score) competition went to Caleb Bouwcamp (first place male), Robert Christie (third place male), Annie Lee Bouwkamp (first place female), and Kenslee Padgett (third place female).
JROTC Senior Army Instructor Lt. Colonel Robert Sanders had this to say about his students, “I am extremely proud of how well the Landrum High School Raiders work together as a team and how they continuously strive for excellence in both practice and competition. I expect and receive nothing but the best effort from every member of the team. In my humble opinion, the Raider program is the most physically and mentally demanding sport in high school. Our Cardinal Raiders once again demonstrated their mettle and their physical and mental toughness by winning the SC Raider State Championship.”
