Tryon Concert Association presents organist Paul Jacobs

The Tryon Concert Association will present organist Paul Jacobs in two events on Feb. 6 and 7at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 150 Melrose Avenue, Tryon.
At age 27, Dr. Jacobs was named chairman of the Organ Department at the Juilliard School in N.Y.C., the youngest faculty appointee in the school’s history. He has performed throughout the states and internationally. He received a Grammy award in 2011 for the best instrumental soloist performance (without orchestra).
This famed performer is also well-known for his teaching skills and will present a master class on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church at 4 p.m. Dr. Jacobs will be coaching three organ performance majors from Furman University who are students of Dr. Charles Tompkins, professor of organ and music theory at Furman. This event is open and free to the public. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to avoid disturbing the student’s playing.
A formal concert by Dr. Jacobs will be performed on Saturday, Feb. 7, for season ticket holders at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, at 8 p.m.
