Mrs. Alva Mae Whitaker Wilson, age 67, passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 following a long illness. Alva Mae was born in Henderson County, N.C. and is a daughter of the late Alvin Whitaker and sister to the late Doris Maynor and John Moore. She attended Big Level Baptist Church and worked in area nursing homes.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Jerry of the home, her mother Myrtle Owenby, one stepson Edward Stanley Wilson and wife Luetta, four half- brothers, Robert Moore, Fred Moore, Bobby Moore and Bill Biddix; as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Big Level Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Orr officiating. The family received friends from 9:30-10 a.m. at the graveside.
