Seasons of Life Adult Day Services in Columbus has funding available through a grant and the county department of social services for those in need of financial assistance to attend.
The National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) was established in 2000 and provides grants to states and territories based on their share of the population aged 70 and over.
The program provides funding for a range of supports that assist family and caregivers to care for their loved ones. The NFCSP is funded by Title III E of the Older Americans Act.
Seasons of Life opened adult day services on June 30, 2014 after Rutherford Life Services closed the operation in the Polk County-owned building. Polk County funded operations for approximately six months prior to June Beddingfield’s Seasons of Life agreeing to take over the program.
Beddingfield, who also runs an in-home care service, Seasons of Life Home Care, says adult day is another way Seasons of Life can help people stay at home longer.
Beddingfield said the recent funding to assist those wishing to participate is through a grant for caregiver respite and Seasons of Life also has funding left for scholarships.
Seasons of Life Adult Day is located at 79 Carmel Lane, Columbus, adjacent to the Meeting Place Senior Center.
Services are for anyone over the age of 18 who needs assistance during the day. Services include crafts with differing programs each day, rooms to lounge and watch television and for music.
Caregivers provide supervision with medical and nutritional monitoring, assistance with bathing, showering, dressing, incontinence and supervision for persons with dementia or other memory losses.
The facility is staffed with an LPN and an available registered nurse.
Participants can attend full-time or part-time, depending on the caregivers’ needs.
