Mostly Hall Open House to benefit BBBS and Steps to Hope

Dan Ferebee is hosting a Christmas Open House at Mostly Hall in Tryon on Sunday, Dec. 14. The public is invited to tour the historic home in its holiday best, view regional artwork and help decorate the Christmas tree. Open Road Coffee & Tea and Copaceta are sponsoring the drop-in event.
When Ferebee chose a local landmark as his home, he inherited the rich history of Mostly Hall. Built in 1912 by Emma Payne Erskine, nationally known author and great-grandmother of local photographer Chris Bartol, the home was subsequently owned by hotelier, architect, and equestrian Carter Brown. Anson and Joy Merrick purchased the home from Brown in the 1950s. Their daughter, Linda Merrick Frieze, will be on hand to regale visitors with tales of growing up in Mostly Hall, along with Chris Bartol reminiscing about his family ties to the home.
A storyteller will entertain guests and Elaina Prevett will provide music. Light refreshments will be served.
Area artists Bonnie Bardos, Doug Dacey, Patricia Cole Ferullo, Diana Gurri, Linda Hudgins, Carol Beth Icard, Dale McEntire and David Zacharias will have works of art on display and available by silent auction to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters and Steps to Hope. Donations are also welcome.
Ferebee, a former Big Brother, still has a strong connection with his Little Brother Nolen who moved away but returns for visits. Come meet Dan and Nolen, artists and volunteers from BBBS and Steps to Hope and enjoy a festive afternoon lifting the spirits of two local charities that serve children and families facing adversity.
Mostly Hall is located at 66 Fox Trot Lane and will be open from 3-6 p.m. Please come in casual attire. Parking will be available at Church of God, Sunoco/Triangle Stop and Tryon Urgent and Family Care. Valet service will also be provided.
