To the editor:

In this era of divisiveness and disillusionment, it is a pleasure to observe the honesty and dedication of our representative to the NC legislature. Representative Chris Whitmire was elected to this position a little more than year ago and has already distinguished himself as the first freshman representative to introduce and have passed more legislation than any newly elected NC representative in recent memory.  His experience in education, real estate and in the Air Force  (where he is still serving) have given him the drive and strength to tackle problems great and small.  Locally, he assisted Tryon Estates in modifying a law to allow the expansion of our memorial garden.  Two prior representatives attempted this and failed. He also has supported local efforts by the county board of commissioners to have a state vehicle licensing office and drivers license issuing agency established here.  Both of these are expected to open in the near future.  As a family man who lives nearby, he knows the importance of values and education when raising children. Chris Whitmire supports the sanctity of life and limited government.  He deserves our support in the upcoming election. I am proud to know Chris and predict he will have a great future. Watch him closely and see how his dedication pays off, for both our county and for North Carolina.

It was Thomas Jefferson who said “A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.”
