Margaret Elizabeth (Beth) Knapp-Tyner 53, of Green Creek lost her battle with cancer Monday August 12, 2014 and passed away peacefully at Carolina Foothills Hospice House, Landrum, S.C.
Born in Bethesda MD, Beth has resided in Green Creek for the past 16 years. She was the daughter of Margaret D. (Peggie) Armstrong of Green Creek and the late James L. Armstrong.
Beth was well known as a Wildlife Rehabilitor in Polk County, dedicating the past 12 years to providing care to injured and orphaned animals from Western North Carolina and providing education programs to encourage public preservation of our local fauna. Her passion and love for wildlife was shared with many locally through her educational presentations to both children and adult groups.

Beth was also an accomplished hot glass artist, transforming her up-close relationship with wildlife into intricate handmade glasswork, featuring many of God’s creatures. She was selected as one of the top 40 International Beadmakers by Glass Line Magazine June/July 2012, (www.hotglass.com) and was also featured in Glass Line Magazine October/November 2013 with a tutorial for making her sought-after owl face glass bead.
Surviving Beth are her husband Dan of the home; two daughters Ashley (Brandon) Boyd of Rutherfordton and Courtney (Zack) Edney of Winston-Salem; one granddaughter, Parker Boyd; two sisters Alison (Carlo) LaPorta of Bradenton Fla. and Luanne (Scott) Sutton of Estero Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Beth be made to either Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 127, Landrum S.C. 29356 or to the Western North Carolina Nature Center, PO Box 19151, Asheville N.C. 28815.
