Thurman Lowell “Buddy” Greene, Jr. of Boiling Springs, S.C. died August 6,2014 at his home after a brief illness. Bom December 10, 1941 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Thurman Lowell Greene. Sr. and Mary Frances Coggins Greene and husband of Ruby McCraw Greene.
Mr. Greene was a 1960 graduate of Spartanburg High School, owner of Office Equipment Company, Inc. of Spartanburg, S.C. and Columbus, N.C.; a member of S.C. ASA Softball Hall of Fame, inducted in 1996 and current commissioner; former girls’ softball coach for Boiling Springs and Chesnee High Schools; assistant coach of Girl Scouts U.S.A., who were 1997 National Girls Champions; served in the Army National Guard; a member, Deacon and Elder of Second Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeff (Pam) Greene of Boiling Springs, Chad (Michele) Greene of Boiling Springs; one brother Hutch (pat) Greene of Roebuck; six grandchildren, Tyler (Lauren) Greene of Greenwood, Maddox Greene of Jonesville, Danielle (Chandler) Johnston, Drew Greene, Peyton Greene, Emma Greene of Boiling Springs; and one great-grandson, Finn Johnston.
Memorial Services will be held at Spartanburg Second Presbyterian Church, 438 N. Church St. Spartanburg, S.C. 29303 on August 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. by Rev. Steve Rhodes. Visitation prior to service begins at 9:30 a.m. Former softball players are to he honorary escorts.
