Equine development

To the Editor:
What is the looming change in the everyday life cycle of Polk County? I might add that the (TDB) does an excellent job of reporting on prayer, county manager foibles, economic issues, etc.
Why is there so little controversy and reporting of the in-process White Oak Equine development?
Is it because there is little interest? Because it does not have any significant impact on life in Polk County? Is the county well prepared for its arrival? Or is it now too late to respond because of current construction status?
Much of what is known of this development appears to be essentially “hearsay.” Travel out to the site of construction; it is obvious that something is happening. Is it good? Is it bad? Do the people of Polk County want it?
If I had to guess, I would think that the developers did their due diligence before undertaking their investment. What due diligence? Namely, impact on roads, security, infrastructure, tax revenue, sociological major disruption of surrounding residents, etc. Yes, I am sure some landowners have profited by the sale of the homestead to the developer, and rightly so.
I personally do not have an opinion. I am only curious as to what the county did in the confirmation of such a massive undertaking in a relatively small county.
I would certainly encourage in-depth reporting on the part of the Tryon Daily Bulletin in this equine development, to offset all the rumors that are floating around.
