36th annual Super Saturday scheduled for March 15

The 36th annual Children’s Theater Festival Super Saturday is on its way.
On March 15, Tryon will be alive with performances by professional actors, musicians, magicians, jugglers, mimes, puppeteers and dancers, along with a wide variety of local talent taking to the Tryon Fine Arts Center outdoor amphitheater Community Stage.
Throw in a parade down Melrose, a food court, a master paper-cutter, a caricature artist, chalk drawing on the pavement, games for the young ones, a couple of thousand happy people and there you have it: Super Saturday No. 36.
Performing at TFAC will be electrifying comedy juggler Mark Nizer and the dynamic NC Youth Tap Ensemble. The hilarious Avner the Eccentric and magician Peter Boie will perform at the Tryon Movie Theater.
At the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, Porkchop Productions with their delightful version of “The Ugly Duckling” and the Columbia Marionettes with “Rumplestiltskin.”
The Congregational Church will host Roger Day and his music-filled “Marsh Mud Madness,” and Gateway Productions/ Mask Theatre with their highly creative stories and costumes. Tickets remain at just $2 to keep Super Saturday affordable for the whole family.
Order forms will go to several elementary schools on Feb. 24, to be returned to the school office by the Feb. 28. Also on Feb. 28, order forms will be available for pick-up at area libraries, which can be mailed back in. An order form also will be available online at TryonSuperSaturday.com.
A round robin ticket distribution will take place at TFAC March 4, after which the box office will be open Wednesday- Friday March 5-7 and March 12-14 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and on Super Saturday itself beginning at 9 a.m.
