It is time for the Second Saturday Contra dance in Saluda. This Saturday, Feb. 8. will be the annual Valentine Dance so come dressed in red and prepare to nibble on sweet treats provided by the Blue Ridge Board.
In January there were over 80 dancers and Diane Silver’s wonderful calling.
In February there will be twirling and toe tapping to music by Hey for Four with Fred Stoll on fiddle, Lucy Allen on guitar, Pam Stoll on bass and fiddle and Marshall Goers on banjo, mandolin and bouzouki.
Caller for this special dance is Charlotte Crittenden who has been very popular with dancers in the area and has gotten great reviews when she has called in the past. She has a smooth calling stroke and lots of dances progressing from simple to advanced.
As always, the event will be held at the Party Place and Event Center venue with its huge dance floor and sound system. The center is located on Friendship Church Road in Saluda.
Beginner lessons start at 7: p.m. so new dancers should arrive early. The regular dance is 7:30-10 p.m. A small fee is required for admission, but bring two dancers new to the venue and entrance is free.
Please join the Blue Ridge Contra Facebook page. More information is available at 828-489-6578.
