Iris Parris Pack

Iris Parris Pack, 81, of Highway l08, Columbus, NC died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon.
Born in Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert N. and  Carolyn Birdell Rhodes Parris.  Iris worked for many years at Hatch Mills, Columbus, and spoke often of her co-workers.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and cooking, but the joy of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Clyde Allen Pack; a daughter, Teresa P. Pate (Jack) of Landrum and  two granddaughters, Misty Pate-Coan  (Tripp) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Shawna Allison of Green Creek; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn Allison of Green Creek, and  Connor and Jack Coan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Walter Parris; three sisters, Rita Justice Evileen Norwood and Irene Roper all of Hendersonville, N.C. She was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Gordon and seven  brothers, Nathan, Fred, Ray, Grady, Clarence, Hugh “Tig” and Donald Parris.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 in the Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral in the fellowship hall of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
