Christmas will gleam a little brighter for four children in Landrum thanks to caring by the Landrum city employees and the Landrum Fire Department.
Firefighters raised $240, with a matching grant that took the figure to $480, and city employees contributed as well for a total of $650.
“That’s the kind of people we have in this town,” said city administrator Caitlin Martin. “I’m going shopping today.”
The children requested pillows for their beds and bedsheets, and one wanted a teddy bear.
“The oldest child, a teen, said he only wanted for his siblings to have presents under the tree,” Martin said.
