Margaret Bryson

Nancy Margaret Lipscombe Bryson, 96, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus.
Born Feb. 27, 1917 in Bartlesville, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Nancy Morrison Lipscombe.
She was happily married for 46 years to William J. Bryson, who passed away in 1983. Margaret was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, a reporter for the Knoxville Journal, an elementary school teacher during her working life, and later a contributing columnist to the Waynesville Mountaineer Newspaper.
She was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Tryon. Margaret was a Polk County resident since 2007, moving from Waynesville, N.C.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Bryson Holmes (Robby) of Florence, Ala.; Rebecca Bryson Kemp of Campobello, S.C.; Alison Bryson McCrary of Tuscumbia, Ala. and Elizabeth Victoria Bryson of Asheville, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Sean Thompson, John and Brandon Towns, Rebecca McCrary, Teri Olive and Heather Holmes; and three great-grandchildren.
A reception celebrating Margaret’s life will be held from 1-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.
