Curtis C. Smith

Curtis Clifford Smith, 68, of 712 Olde Puckett’s Ferry Rd., husband of Ruth Franks Smith, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at his home.
Born in Saluda, he was a son of the late Charles and Bertha Thomas Smith. Curtis retired from Monsanto/Solutia and was an Air Force veteran. Curtis served during the Vietnam War era from 1964-1968.
He was a lifelong North Carolina Tarheels fan, an avid golfer and sometimes fisherman. Curtis was a member of Harris Baptist Church and the Kingsmen Sunday school class.
Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons, Daryl Smith of Greenwood, S.C. and Brian Smith of the home; a special friend and adopted family, Shirley Franks of the home; two sisters, Pearl Shelton and partner, Syd Ruff of Hendersonville, N.C. and Doris Metcalf and partner, Jim Edwards of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Tommy Smith and his wife Margie of Saluda and Charles Smith Jr. of Landrum; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29 at Harris Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Thomas and the Rev. Rick Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ray Kinney, Jim Clary, Donnie Gaines, Danny Crawford, Carl Funderburk and Brentley Thomas.
Honorary escorts will be The Kingsmen Sunday school class.
