Geneva Faye Nelon, 59, of Smith Waldrop Road, Columbus, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She died in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum.
Born in Rutherford County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Hobert and Hattie Bradley Green.
A graduate of Polk Central High School Class of 1972, she worked for more than 20 years with Dr. Thomas Perraut in Columbus.
Surviving are: one daughter, Monica Gossett (Jeremy) of Inman, S.C.; one son, Corey Nelon (Beth) of Ellenboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Kendall, Brittany, Annabelle and Gabby; three sisters, Liz Hudgins of Columbus, N.C., Alice Bailey of Sunny View, N.C. and Mary Broadwater of Charlotte, N.C. and two brothers, Bennie Greene (Kathy) of Forest City, N.C. and Gilmer Bradley of Mill Spring.; also special friends Patsy and Dean Toney of Green Creek, N.C.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, George and Ann Liese Bradley.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 in the Big Level Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. with Rev. William Swink officiating.
Family will receive friends before the service from 2-3:15 p.m. Friday in Big Level Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Big Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
