The Tryon Downtown Development Association proudly hosts its 2013 annual holiday ornament auction and is asking local artists to contribute.
The ornaments will be on display and the auction will begin at the Upstairs Artspace gallery on Friday, Dec. 6, 5-8 p.m., the evening of the TDDA sponsored Christmas Stroll.
It will conclude with last minute bids and a light reception on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 5-7p.m. with bidding ending at 6 p.m.
Local artists are invited to donate handmade ornaments. Multiple ornaments will be graciously accepted.
“Last year’s ornaments outnumbered the year before, and we’d really like to see a tree brimming with beautiful handmade pieces again,” said Kim Nelson, “We personally invite all artists who have shown work during any of the Trots to support this event, get creative and donate a one-of-a-kind ornament.”
Last year’s auction raised $800, all of which was put towards the Tryon Gallery Trot budget, contributing to a successful 2013 “Second Saturday” season.
Donation deadline for the auction will be December 4th. Ornaments should be signed, ready to hang and dropped off at Upstairs Artspace 49 S. Trade St. in downtown Tryon.
They will be hung on a Christmas tree in the gallery’s front window for optimal viewing and to add to the seasonal beauty of downtown Tryon. Prizes will be awarded to artists in three categories; highest bid for one ornament, hottest bid activity and most creative ornament.
