Annie Foster Bridgeman

Annie Elizabeth Foster Bridgeman, 99, of Columbus  passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, 2013 in Autumn Care Nursing Center, Saluda.

Born Feb. 13, 1914 in Polk County, she was the oldest of 13 children of the late Joe and Pearl Hudson Foster, and wife of the late Joseph Bea Bridgeman who died in 1983. She was a member of Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus.

Surviving is one daughter, Brenda Walker (Bobby) of Mill Spring; two sons, Fred Bridgeman (Pantha) of Columbus and Ray Bridgeman (Mary) of Columbus; one brother, Bradford Foster of Lynn; two sisters, Genell Campbell and Freda Plumley, both of Landrum; six grandchildren, Laura Lutz of Newton, N.C., Jeffrey Bridgeman (Sandra) of Harrisburg, N.C., Cathy Smith (Mike) of Lake Mary, Fla., Lisa Prince (Doug) of Flowery Branch, Ga., Scott Bridgeman (Melissa) of Columbus and Jason Walker (Tiffany) of Mill Spring; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one step-grandchild. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Julia Smith, Nannie Hilton, Angie McAbee and Mabel Kuykendall; five brothers, Buford, Roy, Norman, William (Bill) and Robert Foster.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, with Mr. Joe Foster and Rev. Rick Wall officiating.

Mrs. Bridgeman will lie in state Thursday from noon-5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.
