Shutdown unconservative

To the editor:
Forgetting the potential financial disaster that could occur in the event the debt ceiling is not raised, if the Republicans are successful in the ploy to kill or delay Obamacare, the precedent set would be catastrophic.
For instance, what would keep the Democrats, next year, from threatening to send our government in default unless we pass, let’s say, stricter gun control laws?
After all, the polls reflect a majority in support of gun control, and it is the unpopularity of Obamacare that is given for the Republican threat.
Arguably, gutting Obamacare would be worse than forcing gun control legislation, because the latter is something that the Democrats merely want, while Obamacare has passed both houses of Congress, survived a court challenge all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and was tested again last year in a presidential election, where one of the candidates was against Obamacare, and one was in favor. The guy who was in favor won.
This threat by the Republicans is most unconservative. I personally happen to support stricter gun control laws, but not at that price.
