Tommy Melton
I am Tommy Melton and I reside in Columbus with my wife, Tina and yellow lab, Bailey.
I grew up in Columbus and was active in sports at Tryon High School. After graduation, I attended North Greenville College and served in the US Army, stationed in Germany as a military policeman.
My education for the banking and finance business included the Pat Ryan School of Finance in Chicago, Ill. and The Institute of Banking. My employment included Wachovia Bank and First Citizens. In the mid 1970s, I began a successful career in the automobile business, having served as general manager, sales manager and financial manager.
I served on the Columbus Town Council from 2003 to 2006. I was elected to the Polk County Board of Commissioners in 2006 for a four-year term, serving as chairman the first two years.
I am currently on the Board of Trustees for St. Luke’s Hospital.
I have previously served on the following: St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation Board, Rutherford-Polk-McDowell Mental Health Board, Polk County Recreation Board, Western Recovery Task Force, Region C Rural Transportation Advisory Committee and Public Works Advisory Committee.
I am excited about serving you again in Columbus.
Ricky McCallister
Ricky McCallister grew up in Spartanburg County.
After graduating from Spartanburg High School, he joined the U.S. Marines and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He attended Cecil’s Business College, and married Eva Mills of Columbus in 1975. Ricky and Eva have two children; Amanda and Andrew, and three grandchildren; C.J. Jaylin and Jake. Ricky is a member of Midway Baptist Church. He worked for Eastern Air Lines until they closed in 1991 and currently works for G. E. Lighting in Hendersonville NC.
Ricky said he became involved in the Town of Columbus to be a voice for all citizens.
“I strive to make my decisions on what is best for all the citizens and the future of the Town of Columbus. We all love the Town of Columbus as our home and strive to keep it a special place for generations to come.”
