Carolina Keglers recruiting new bowlers; Oct. 3 results

Published 10:49 pm Sunday, October 6, 2013

The Keglers are growing. New bowlers are joining almost every week, but they still have room for more. No experience necessary.

This is a very low-key fun league for women and men over 50 who want a little recreation. They bowl on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. at Autumn Lanes in Forest City.

Bowlers keep statistics on their performance for the season. The game average is simply the total pins divided by the number of games bowled. A series is three games, those averages are kept as well.

A handicap is applied to each bowler, according to their average, so that teams can compete fairly.

The results posted here in the Bulletin highlight how bowlers fared compared to their average performance, not in comparison to other bowlers.

So a bowler with a 150 average, who rolls a 190, would be listed as +40 =190.

Here are the results of the bowling on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

High games over average:
Phyllis Ruegg +76 =174
Kay Shockley +59 =179
Ellen Harvey +53 =181
Charles Painter +51 =169

High series over average:
Phyllis Ruegg +119 =415
Jean-Jacques Benoist +112 =488
Dianne Poague +108 =483
Henry Zahn +101 =522
