Harold Blackwell, 76, of Boiling Springs passed away Aug. 26, 2013.

He was the son of the late Floyd and Eva Peace Blackwell and husband of Viola Childress Blackwell.

He was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church and was retired after 37 years from Gill Drilling Service. He served in the US Army.

In addition to his wife, Viola Childress Blackwell, he is survived by three brothers, Robert Blackwell of Lynn, Willard Blackwell of Landrum and Jerry Blackwell of Lake Greenwood; one sister, Pauline “Polly” DeLoach of Lake Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Katherine B. Ward and a brother, Richard Blackwell.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at Petty Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at Petty Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Gary Grogan and Dr. Troy Greggs.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The family is at the home, 617 Fawn Branch Trail, Boiling Springs, S.C.
