Cardinals varsity baseball falls to Blue Ridge

That’s about the way it went for the Cardinals the rest of the way. Blue Ridge scored a run in the second on three singles, and added three in the fifth, with T.J. Fincher closing it out for Landrum, with a groundout and two stikeouts.
In the fifth, the Cardinals finally got on the board, but couldn’t mount a serious comeback. With one down, Jacob Lanning walked, and stole second. Corn fanned for the second out, bringing Bishop to the plate. Once again Bishop smashed the ball to right, and once again, he tripled. This one scored Lanning, but it was all the Cardinals could manage, and the third out ended the game via the ten-run rule.
“Blue Ridge is a good ball team,” acknowledged McCallister. He also noted that when the Cardinals suffer this kind of loss, the players must “keep their chins up, and play together.”
The Cardinals won on the road against Carolina Academy March 29 with a score of 11-1, but lost their Saturday neutral tournament game against Dorman, 3-2.
