The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce has a new Buy Local initiative – Chamber Bucks.
Here is how it works: anyone can purchase Chamber Bucks, a gift certificate issued by the Chamber in increments of $5 or more. The bucks are accepted at a list of local merchants who are members. The merchant then redeems the bucks at the Chamber at month’s end, for face value. Any Chamber member can be added to the Merchant List, which is given out with the Chamber Bucks certificate.
This program has been used in other areas of the country, and successfully helps to keep dollars in the community.
