Fall in the foothills brings number of community events

On Saturday be sure not to miss the Green Creek Heritage Festival. Held at the Green Creek Community Center on Coxe Rd (across from the Green Creek First Baptist Church). Always a crowd pleaser, in this it’s 14th year, organizers promise it will be even bigger and better than ever! Back by popular demand, the car and truck show, a parade, a full day of music, crafts, demonstrations, animals and of course delicious, mouth-watering barbeque and chicken await you. If you are a history buff you won’t want to miss the history room filled with hundreds of pictures and historical information about the Green Creek area. Entry and parking are Free for this family friendly event.
These hills, beautiful hills are also home to the Foothills Music Club. This Sunday, be sure not to miss the Foothills Music Concert at Holy Cross Episcopal Church at 3 p.m. The concert, in honor of Lesley Oakes the Foothills Music Club Founder, will begin at 3pm.
Pianist Chenny Gan, from Bravaria will present a program of Haydn, Debussy, Schumann, Gershwin, and Kapustin.
The Foothills Music Club will celebrate 25 years of helping local musicians by providing scholarships to study, purchase music, repair or purchase instruments. Many Polk County and Rutherford musicians give credit to the Foothills Music Club for their continuing to practice the art of music and preforming.
