Girls are engaged in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program. The Best Buy Geek Squad Summer Academy provided a two-day program for 115 girls. Girls built a computer and learned skills such as video editing and special effect techniques, advanced digital photography and digital music programs.
Girls attend summer camp programs at Camp Ginger Cascades, Camp Golden Valley, Camp Pisgah and Keyauwee Program Center. County-wide camping events are coordinated by volunteers to offer camping experiences throughout the school year. During the past year 8,000 girls experienced a program in the out-of-doors at one of the camps.
If you would like to volunteer or offer financial assistance to further Girl Scouts in this area, call 800-672-2148 or visit www.girlscoutsp2p.org.
