Joan ‘Daisy’ Burgess

Joan Corn “Daisy” Burgess, 80, of Hwy. 108, Columbus died Sunday, April 8, 2012 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon.
Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Roxie Walker Corn. She was the widow of Clarence Burgess, who died in l995. Mrs. Burgess was retired from Milliken Corporation, Hatch Mill Plant after having worked for 18 years. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Mill Spring.
Surviving are: two daughters, Gail Singer (Bob) of Golden Valley and Leslie Roxie Burgess of the home and a son, Philip Burgess of Mill Spring. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Brandon and Haley Burgess, and three special friends, Jim and Pat Bailey of Columbus and Connie Hill of Sunny View.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dean Elliott.
Burial will be in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday just prior to the funeral in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
