Elizabeth Laura Bevans

Elizabeth Laura Bevans, 79, of Columbus passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 in Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, N.C. following a brief illness.
Born in Branchville, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Edith Lawson Hough.
Mrs. Bevans moved to Columbus in 1987, coming from Layton, N.J. She was active in the Polk County Extension Agency and Quiet Quilters. She also volunteered at Thermal Belt Outreach and Steps to Hope. Mrs. Bevans was a member of the Columbus United Methodist Church, Columbus.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur E. Bevans; two sons, David Bevans of Columbus, Ga. and William Bevans of Leesport, Pa.; three daughters, Karen Bevans-Cassidy of Branchville, N.J., Cynthia Mansfield and Lori Nichols, both of Tryon; two half sisters, Dale Schoepf of Sugarloaf, Pa. and Susan Longcor of Andover, N.J.; one aunt, Dora Holland of Buffalo Grove, Ill; four grandchildren, Christopher and Zachary Bevans and Joseph and Anna Nichols.
Mrs. Bevans was sent to Wood Funeral Home in Branchville, N.J. for services and burial in Layton Cemetery, Layton, N.J.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Columbus United Methodist Church, Columbus, with Rev. Rob Parson and Rev. Tony Sayer officiating.
