Threading a sense of community

Saluda Arts Festival entries are due March 15, 2012; the festival is May 19 and gets more successful every year thanks to hard-working volunteers who work on it a good part of the year (thank you!). Applications can be downloaded from saluda.com.
At Saluda Center, there’ll be a community potluck with music by Tom Fisch, Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. Bring your favorite covered dish to share.
Be sure to go in the library to purchase tickets to win a chance to own an original oil painting, “Fall on the Green River,” donated by Saluda painter Bill Jameson. You can see it on display near the circulation desk this year until Dec. 8, and all procees benefit our very own Saluda Community Library!
February birthdays: Wylie Rauschenbach, Wesley Pace, Biddie Dawson, Amy Beeson, Chris Gianino, Katherine Koenig, Ginny Jones.
Our community has once again proved that what makes Saluda special is the people who support each other in ups and downs of life. Glennie Casey, mother of three daughters, including Lynn and Susan who live here, passed away recently: she loved gardening and was a staunch supporter of the Democratic party. I can hear, in my mind’s eye, Glennie reminding people to vote.
