Epley’s talk will focus on why such a passel of hate existed in this area in 1780. He will talk about fiction versus fact in history, using as an example how history ignored Colonel Andrew Hampton’s role at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Colonel Hampton commanded the Liberty Men of Old Rutherford County – now Rutherford, Polk and Cleveland counties.
The meeting is at 2:30 p.m. at the Polk County Historical Museum in Columbus and is free and open to the public.
