Jessie Turney Rogers

Jessie Turney Griffin Rogers, 97, of Tryon died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 in Benson Hall of White Oak of Tryon.
Born in York Co., S.C., she was the daughter of the late Carl M. and Edith Faye Wallace Turney. She was first married to James Gray Griffin, who died in 1964. She was later married to Charles Edward Rogers, who died in 1998. She was a past employee of the Betty Sturgis Shoppe in Tryon for many years. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tryon, where she taught GAs for a number of years.
Surviving nieces and nephews include James W. McGee and his wife, Brenda, of Fort Mill, S.C.; Myrna Hendrix and her husband, Kay, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Gloria T. Sims and her husband, Marion, of Mt. Holly, N.C.; William N. Turney of Rock Hill, S.C.; stepchildren are Charles Edward Rogers Jr., Peggy Shannon Sultan, Janet Gaynor Russell, Sylvia Ann Yarbrough and Betty Jane Bennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Rev. Jeff Harris officiating.
Family to receive friends from 1- 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.
