The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has added a charge of kidnapping to the charges faced by Christopher Eugene Packer, 25, of 156 Eagle Nest Road, Columbus.
Packer’s kidnapping charge is added to those he was charged with when he was arrested on May 11, including felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female and misdemeanor communicating threats, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrants.
Packer is accused of strangling, head-butting, biting and threatening to kill a woman during a domestic incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday, May 10.
Packer was being held at the Polk County Jail originally on a mandatory 48-hour hold per domestic violence laws. The additional kidnapping charge brought against Packer on Friday, May 13 also requires another 48-hour hold in jail.
Following the second 48-hour hold, which ended on Sunday, May 15, Packer bond was set at $23,000, according to the sheriff’s office. He was released Monday, May 16 at about 10 a.m. via a property bond, sheriff’s officials said Monday.
