Clark signs to play soccer at Davidson College

Alexandra Clark, the daughter of Rick and Lisa Preston Clark (native of Tryon), granddaughter of Dee Preston and Frances McCain, and great-granddaughter of Georgia Pack and the late Dr. and Mrs. John Z. Preston, all of Tryon, recently signed to play soccer at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.
Clark is a senior at Hendersonville High School, where she has played varsity soccer all four years. She has been captain for two years and was named 2010 Player of the Year for Hendersonville High School. She plays multi-state competitive soccer with Highland Football Club in Asheville, is a member of the ’93 North Carolina Olympic Development Team and was chosen to represent North Carolina in the summer of 2010 Regional ODP Camp.
Clark was the only soccer player at Hendersonville High to have started all four years. She was selected to All Conference, All Region, All Star State High School Team, ODP NC State Team, 2010 ODP Regional Camp Team and the Times News All Area Soccer Team. She was also named Kiwanis County All Star Athlete and Times News Featured Scholar Athlete.
In addition to her soccer awards, Clark also was a Cross Country All Conference and state finalist, indoor track state finalist and Track & Field state finalist. She also won numerous academic honors, including National Honor Society.
Clark’s grandfather, Dr. Preston, is also a 1930 Alumni of Davidson College.
Along with her coaches, faculty and her parents, her sister Alden, 13, and her step-grandfather Jimmy McCain, along with Frances McCain, were present at the signing ceremony on National Signing Day.
