Professional actor/director Neela Muñoz has announced auditions Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5 at 7 p.m., for the Tryon Little Theater’s season ending lunacy, Fred Carmichael’s “Done to Death.” Auditions will be held at the workshop, located at 516 South Trade Street in Tryon. Callbacks will be the following Monday evening. Performances will be at the workshop April 28 – May 1 and May 5 – 8.
“Done to Death” is a parody of every mystery plot, hero and villain of the last 50 years. Remember the board game Clue? Colonel Mustard in the library with the lead pipe? Miss Scarlett in the drawing room with the rope? Remember the movie “Clue” with alternate after alternate solution presented as to who killed who? Did you ever see the film “Murder by Death?”
Director Muñoz has announced that with roles for up to nine men and eight woman, and with double casting of some roles likely, character ages are flexible – not necessarily fixed at the ages called for by the playwright. She asks those auditioning to arrive at the workshop before 7 p.m. to sign in and to prepare a one to two minute comic monologue for their audition.
Neela Muñoz directed last season’s “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” for TLT, and has just finished directing the N.C. Stage Company’s production of the comic romp “Boeing Boeing.” Long associated with the Flat Rock Playhouse, Muñoz brings her experience to TLT.
Scripts are available for 24-hour checkout at The Book Shelf, located on Pacolet Street in Tryon.
