The Carolina Community Chorus will be performing the Spring 2011 concert at Polk County High School Sunday, May 1.
Director Richard Kennedy has chosen the theme of “Pure Americana” and the program will include Broadway, film, gospel/spiritual, American folk and patriotic numbers.
The concert will open with “The Star-Spangled Banner,” complete with the presentation of the colors.
Kennedy stated that selections from the program include “Memory” from “Cats,”
“Cindy,” “Ain’t Got Time to Die,” and “Down by the Riverside.” Soloists from the chorus will be featured in some of the numbers.
The chorus will finish the program with “God Bless America” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” (with audience participation).
In addition, Kennedy plans to invite a mountain or bluegrass group to join in the musical event.
