Carla Bergren Barnsley

Carla Barnsley was born in Boston, MA, on the 14th of February in 1925. Her parents were Ernest and Kathryn Bergren. She spent her pre-adult life in Roslindale, MA, and graduated from Roslindale High School. She went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2010 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum.
She married her husband, Sidney Barnsley, in Evansville, IN, on June 25, 1944. After the war, she went to New Mexico to be with her husband. Her first two children were born there.
She is survived by her husband and five children; Sandra, Silver City, NM; Gordon, Kemp, TX; Clifford, Edgartown, MA; Bradford, Bridgewater, MA; Melinda, Methuen, MA. She has six grandchildren: Amy, Emily, Brandon, Matthew, Heather and Samantha. She also has three great-grandchildren.
After the youngest went to school, she became an active volunteer at Norwood Hospital in MA. Her volunteering continued after she moved to North Carolina at Catawba Memorial Hospital and finally to St. Lukes in Columbus, NC. Poor health ended her active volunteering.
She was a loving homemaker, wife and mother. Her husband and children will really miss her. Love you, Mom.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Rd., Landrum, SC. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16 at 2 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Home in Tryon. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.
Distribution of her ashes will be at the Memorial Garnden at the Church of the Holy Cross, Tryon.
