A Summertime Kids grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina provided Polk County Middle School students in the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) summer enrichment program with a two-week program at Tryon Arts and Crafts (TAC).
Students worked with TAC craftsmen on blacksmithing, pottery, painting, woodworking, and glass and jewelry making during the program. The students celebrated their completed work at a family night and artists show held at TAC.
On the final day of the program, the students learned about careers in art from local and regional artists.
