Patricia Gayle Horne Young passed away peacefully on February 21, 2010 in her home with her husband and children.
She was born July 3, 1946 in Columbus, Ga. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Eugene Horne of Green Creek, her sister, Loretta Horne Christofferson of Atlanta, Ga., maternal grandparents Hobson D. and Mildred Peek of Albany, Ga., and paternal grandparents Jesse M. and Cora Horne of Green Creek.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Thomas James Young, a daughter, Teresa Young Mayhew of Eatonton, Ga., sons Glen E. Young and James M. Young of Macon, Ga., her mother, Doris Peek Williams of Albany, Ga., her sister, Carol Horne Shuffstall and her husband Richard of Etowah, N.C., and grandchildren, Wade and Mathew Mayhew, Autumn and James M. Young Jr., and Jamarco Wilson.
Having lived most of her life in Albany, Ga., she spent the last 27 years in Macon, Ga., Gayle will be remembered for her vibrant, “bubbly” personality. If you were in need of help, she was always there for you; no one was ever turned away. Her love for her dogs through the years showed how much compassion she had for all of Gods creatures. If you ever spent time with Gayle, you were amazed at the amount of “old time sayings” she used in her conservations. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Tommy, who loved her with all of his heart. Her three children knew the special love only a mother can give. She will truly be missed by her mother and all of her family and friends.
Funeral services were held at Kimbrell – Stern Funeral Home in Albany, Ga., on Feb. 24. The Rev. John Aulds officiated. Internment took place at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in memory of Gayle H. Young to the First United Methodist Church of Albany, Ga., 307 Flint Avenue, Albany, Ga. 31701, of which she was a member, or Hospice of Central Georgia, 3780 Eisenhower Pkwy., Macon, Ga. 31206.
