Screamin’ Js perform in Landrum

The Screaming Js are bringing the boogie back to celebrate the grand opening of the new Celtic Tavern on Friday, Dec. 11.
Members band credits include The Blue Rags, Firecracker Jazz Band, The Mad Tea Party, and Squirrel Nut Zippers. Started by Jake Hollifield on the keys and Jason Krekel on the guitar as an eclectic electric diversion from their other projects, the band offers a sound fueled by the high energy rhythm of Mike Gray on drums and special guest Cary Fridley on bass. According to listeners, this isnt your typical cover band, but a conversion band taking classic boogie woogie rhythms, lyrics, and riffs and layering them with original twists and turns to create something new with every show.
You may have caught a bit of the Screaming Js last winter in Elmos and Elmos Too. After a summer of festivals and a weekly “Widespread Wednesday” show at MoDaddys in Asheville, the band makes its return to the area to celebrate the opening of the Celtic Tavern on Highway 176 between Tryon and Landrum. This spacious new venue has a carpeted bar area where folks can sit back and listen as well as plenty of room for dancing in the game room with its new hardwood floor. The show will start at 8:30 p.m.
